Boris Podrecca
Boris Podrecca's creative world is situated between the geographicalpoles of Vienna and Trieste. His designs interpreting organicprocesses lie in trend neither with the "New Simplicity"which is degenerating to a mannerism, nor with Viennese "Deconstructivism"and its affinity to ornamentation. Rather, his concerns centermuch more on the dynamics of urban flow, the tensions and dilationsin the 15-centimeter-thick layer of hung building facade, thepower of mechanized energy and the eroticizing effect generatedby materials such as flamed marble, finely grained wood or polishedmetal.Included in this first comprehensive publication devoted to Podrecca'swork is an essay by the Viennese architect and critic Walter Zschokke, a catalogue-like compilation of the most important works accompaniedby cogent texts, and a full listing of all works. Numerous photographscapture the vitality and breadth of Pordrecca' s creativity, andthe design process is made transparent through his powerful sketches.
